Senior Pastor- Dr. George Harris
What can you say about a man with over 50 years in the ministry, who has preached in over 20 countries, has authored 5 books and continues to teach the Bible with dedication to expository preaching? The fruit of his ministry speaks for itself. Some people call him Dr. Harris, others pastor or preacher, the staff calls him friend.
He holds degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Luther Rice Theological Seminary as well as a pedigree from Ouachita Baptist University.
If he is not evangelizing the lost, preparing for Sunday's message, or spending time with his wife of over 50 years, he is probably flying, or day dreaming about it.
Associate/ Teaching Pastor- Russell Page
When Russell's wife saw this picture she asked who is that. Our way of teaching him to shave was to take staff pictures when he grew a beard. Looking nothing like the dashing man pictured, Russell is the associate pastor of FBC. His job description is simple: do whatever the pastor tells him.
After graduating from Texas A&M (which explains the lost bet resulting in the beard) he married his wife of over ten years, Crystal. He holds a masters of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In His spare time he wrangles his 4 children.
Music Minister- Heather Mitchell
Just as Jesus was the living embodiment of the question, “What good can come from Nazareth”, Heather Mitchell shows us that God can bring good things out of places like Odessa, TX. Heather sees her job here as worshiping Jesus with all her being and leading others to do the same. We think her voice, musical skills and infectious enthusiasm accomplish this everywhere she goes.
Heather has as BA in music from Schreiner University. Her husband of over fifteen years, Michael, is a sheriff and they have three beautiful, talented daughters whom they home school.
Children's Minister- Nancy Marrs
Nancy was called by God to join the staff in October 2006. She is passionate about seeing children’s faces light up when they learn for the first or hundredth time that Jesus loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. She has the philosophy that the children’s ministry is here to partner with parents in bringing up faith-solid children.
Nancy has been married to her husband David for over 20 years and has two children. On a free day she loves to read and be with her friends, the more the merrier.
Business Manager- Cheryl Roland
Cheryl is the lady with her finger on the pulse of everything that goes on at First Baptist. As the business administrator, Cheryl keeps the office running, the buildings in top shape, the bills paid and the pastoral staff organized.
Besides having an associates degree in business administration she has 4 children and six grandchildren. Her hobbies, when not keeping the church organized, are reading, fishing and camping with her grandchildren.
